JAKARTA, first - the Government of Indonesia and Australia this weekend organized training for SAR (Search and Rescue) together in Merauke, Papua, which involve personnel National SAR Agency (Basarnas) and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, the SAR aircraft and logistical support for personnel and assets that diterjunkan . 

According to official information from the Australian Embassy in Jakarta, Tuesday, the training lasts from 17 to 20 November 2008 and is a part of the ongoing Australian institutions with the Indonesian Government to improve the overall transport safety in Indonesia. 

Training is conducted following the signing of MoU (MoU) in January and the Australian Minister for Infrastructure, Anthony Albanese, and Indonesian Minister of Transportation, Jusman Syafi'i Djamal, which provides the foundation for the bilateral assistance package worth 24 million Australian dollars over three years. 

Australian Ambassador to Indonesia Bill Farmer, said the SAR exercise that describes the high level of cooperation and progress achieved under the assistance program for transportation safety. 

Australia to exercise the SAR will precipitate Dornier aircraft equipped with a life raft while Basarnas will use the ship navy ships and rescuers Basarnas. 

Four graduate courses SAR Mission Coordinator held in Denpasar in October this year sponsored by the Transportation Security Assistance Package Indonesia will be involved in this exercise. 

The project is one of several activities that are being implemented under the program Transportation Safety Kit U.S. assistance, including safety inspections and aircraft and airports, improving services, air traffic management in Indonesia, the procurement of experts and guidelines to improve Indonesia's capacity to conduct investigations of accidents transportation, training and maritime safety and security of the ferry.
