JAKARTA, first-Management Coordinator Issues Cigarette Indonesian Consumers Institute Foundation (YLKI) Eternal Ancestors reveal, the number of women active smoker in Jakarta increased about one percent each year.

Based on data from the smoking prevalence of Demography Institute at the University of Indonesia in 2008, the number of active smoker in Jakarta is estimated to reach three million people or 35 percent of the total population of 9,057 million people. 

He point eight percent or about 240,000 are female smoker. In 2001, women smoker only 1.5 percent of the number of active smoker. Year 2004 increased three-fold to 5.1 percent. 

Meanwhile, the total number of active smoker in Jakarta also increased about one percent per year. Based on the data is also, in Indonesia there are 1,172 people per day die because of cigarettes caused diseases. 

To prevent many victims died due to cigarettes, Sincere urged the provincial government of Jakarta enforce ban smoking in public places in the room, because this rule does not ban smoking effective. 

"Many many violations occur and there are no legal sanctions applied. Until the implementation of this prohibition is not clear implementation," he said. 

Since 2005, the Jakarta provincial government has rules about smoking ban in public places. Rules that in the Regulation No. 2 / 2005 on Air Pollution Control and Regulation No. 75 of the Governor about Regions in 2005 Cigarette Smoke Free.
